  • What do I do when I have the message searching for satellite signal on my screen?

Perform a hard reset by removing the access card from your satellite receiver. Unplug the unit from the electricity and leave it off for 30 minutes. Then plug the receiver back in. You should get a message that says, please insert your access card. At this time, reinsert the access card. It may take a few seconds for the receiver to acknowledge the card has been reinserted. If you are still getting the searching for satellite signal message, call BEI to schedule a service call.

  • How do I perform a Soft Reset?

In order to perform a soft reset, simply press the power and the down arrow keys simultaneously on the receiver and hold for ten seconds. Power may automatically be restored to the unit, if it doesn't come back on in a few seconds, simply press the power button again. The unit should now be on channel 100. You may resume normal operation at this point.

  • How do I perform a Hard Reset?

In order to perform a hard reset, the access card must first be removed from the satellite receiver. Please note which way the card is facing as it will only work if reinserted properly. After removing the access card, unplug the receiver from the electricity for at least thirty seconds. While the unit is unplugged, press the power and down arrow keys simultaneously and hold for about ten seconds. This will help to discharge any remaining power stored in the unit. When finished, plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet and power the unit on, but do not reinsert the access card right away. Wait for a message to be displayed that says please insert your access card. When this message is displayed, carefully reinsert the access card. After a few seconds the unit should be reset and will have defaulted back to channel 100. You may resume normal operation at this point.

  • Why am I asked to do a hard reset?

Occasionally, it is necessary to reset the electronics inside of the satellite receiver. There are two types of resets, a soft reset and a hard reset. A soft reset simply turns the unit off, clears out any commands and sends the unit back to the default channel once it is turned on again. A hard reset is a little more involved and completely resets the receiver.
